This is a stunningly presenting, low mileage and excellent condition silver shadow long wheel base ("lwb") with factory division. Finished in the very regal combination of midnight blue (non-metallic) with dove grey connolly hides and matching carpets. It has craftsman hand-painted fine lines to the waistlines finished in a matching light grey. Rolls-royce made only a very limited number of "limousine" division cars and on special order. Less than 500 out of all 35,000 silver shadows built*. The divisions were only fitted on long wheel base cars providing electrically operated privacy glass between the front and rear compartment with a separate radio and entirely autonomous air conditioning system mounted in the boot that provided overwhelming climate control for its special vip rear seat passengers. The division system includes a unique piece of burl walnut wood that traverses the width of the division and surrounds the radio and control section. The glass division can be operated independently by the driver or the rear seat passengers. Upon research, we learn that only some 10% of divisions were supplied so out of the total number of 2,780 lwb silver shadows built, this brings the number to about 300. This division has been in the hands of the right owners most of its life having been caretaken in more recent years by a small car collector enthusiast who hardly used it and simply admired it. When we received the car, it had the common issue, not-used-enough seized and overheated rear brakes but was ostensibly in original condition. A strong straight example of a silver shadow division now due for restoration. Such a nice example that we decided to do a deserving restoration to her. The exterior of the car was car accident free, without rust and the underside without scale and tidy. A high-end job at a cost of some $20,000 to include a brand new factory correct black everflex top with new window gaskets, moulding clips and body hardware. As part of the reconditioning process we removed all the bright-work and machined buffed every individual piece. This was followed by hand polishing and meticulous cleaning prior to re-fitment. Inside door edges and jams are incredibly clean and tidy without unsightly overspray or any signs of restoration. The fine lines on the car were applied in the same manner as rolls-royce did so to all its cars for many years; a trained craftsmen with a good eye and steady hand. With only the best squirrel hair brush the striping is applied entirely free-hand in one elegant stroke at a time. If so, they will be added at no charge. The connolly leather remains without any unsightly wear marks nor tears and displays very clean. The headliner is brand new factory correct broad-cloth wool imported from the uk and is literally brand new in presentation. When we first received the car, the african burl walnut wood looked pretty nice but showing a few minor hairline marks in the clear-coat but we took the view; "what the heck" we've gone this far, lets make it perfect and we did so using the crew formula of 20+ individually applied coats of clear lacquer each wet-sanded and hand rubbed between coats to bring it to the final glass like finish - a formula adopted by us straight from the craftsman at crewe. This includes the dash, centre console, door cappings and front and rear window finishers. The final product can only be best appreciated in real life. As a wonderful bonus, the wood sports a very detailed and intricate grain with a soft marbelling in the outer regions complemented by very intricate rich knotty burl at the inner/centre areas. Only rolls-royce can deliver such elegance. Door panels, interior chrome-work, gauges and instruments are all in very fine condition. Like the wood, we did the same with the carpets. With everything else looking so perfect, the couple of little marks on the original carpets prompted us to fit brand new ones; hand-made by us, factory correct wilton wool throughout. And at no compromise, with correct stitched leather rolled edging just like factory. The dash pad is perfect and the rear parcel shelf redone new with the headliner. The trunk presents perfectly; clean and crisp like the rest of the car. The hubcaps are perfectly straight without any kinks or rashes and the stainless steel recently polished to a mirror finish. Mechanically the car is fantastic. It has been recently work-shopped with the entire car "re-commissioned" from its days of rest. This includes all the hydraulics and braking system. With the car having low mileage and all the signs of having been laid-up correctly, she is very tight and in true operating condition. The engine purrs and gear-change is smooth and quiet. She rides down the road without rattles or thumps. Showing only some 56,000 miles, who can be truly sure of its authenticity, but with a review of the overall condition and especially its interior (inside the doors, foot pedal, etc), engine bay and under-side, this mileage is surely correct. Both front and rear compartment a/c units blow ice cold and the heater works well. All interior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and lamps working as they should unfortunately at the time of photographing, an incorrect headlamp unit was fitted. This has been corrected with 4 brand new units). An original jack and the operating manual come with the car. This is one of those rare rolls-royce finds that has found its way to the right people for re-commissioning. Like all cars restored and sold thru park-ward motors, this silver shadow has been meticulously scrutinised mechanically and electrically with anything needed, attended to. This includes important and expensive attention to the entire hydraulics and braking system to include; brake pumps, accumulators, hoses, lines, valves, calipers and pads. It is in fantastic condition. For extra photos on this fine example go to the link below. For those who are new to my adverts and/or the marque, please note that as a serious collector of some 30 years, all my cars are truly described examples. I have my own private rolls-royce workshop (not open to the public but dedicated to my own cars and fellow rr enthusiasts) with trained rolls-royce craftsm.
